Question:

Braves Closer Situation?

I think it's time we revisit the closer situation with the Braves. Smoltz is without question out of the picture for the closer role in Atlanta, and Soriano looks to be ailing from continued elbow problems.

Who in the Braves' bullpen stands the best chance of snagging the closer role?

I noticed that Bennett got his second save of the year last night (June 13), but I don't know much of anything about him. Any Braves fans with some insight?

  1. Just a matter of time before the Braves make a deal for a closer, Mike Gonzalez is not going to be the answer and Soriano's health issues make him unreliable. I think within the next few weeks they will make a deal for someone like Fuentes(who will be traded before the deadline)

  2. Bennett got a spot save...he won't be counted on in that role....he's going to be a spot starter now with all the injuries...Mike Gonzalez, who'll be activated soon, may immediately step into the closer role or at worst share it with a still ailing Soriano
