Question:

Braxton Hicks...almost 34 weeks...?

I hear B-H contractions aren't painful. I'll be lying on the couch watching tv, rubbing my stomach, and when I poke it occasionally it feels hard, and other times it doesn't. The only way I can feel it is with my hand though, not by abdominal muscles alone. Is this B-H? I wouldn't know it was happening if I didn't feel it with my fingers.

  1. that is braxton hicks contractions. i don't always know when i'm having them either. it's easier to tell if i am up and moving around, like walking around a lot or shopping and doing a lot of stooping down to pick things up. generally braxton hicks contractions aren't painful but from what i have heard they do get a little more intense as you get closer to your due date.

  2. It's BH.  Nothing to worry about.  For the most part mine were painless and sometimes barely noticed, but as the pregnancy progressed they became stronger to the point were I had to stop what I was doing and breath through them.

  3. yup. they do not hurt but for some can be uncomfortable.

  4. Yes, that is definitely a BH.

Keep an eye on your BH from this moment on till you deliver.  It could switch over into labor pains.

Usually if you rub your belly at this stage.  It will actually bring on a BH.

  5. normal. You get it for weeks before you give birth. It just your muscles contracting getting ready for the birth.
