Question:

Braxton-Hicks contractions with twin pregnancy?

Yesterday I had about 5 Braxton-Hicks contractions in about an hour. They were following a pattern, which really concerned me, and I called the doctor's office this morning, and they told me not to worry about it unless it increases in frequency or intensity. Today I'm not really noticing many contractions - they're not as frequent as last night.

Other moms tell me it's fine, but I've read up a little on how in twin pregnancies, a woman is more likely to dilate from contractions than with a singleton pregnancy.

Have any twin moms on here had BH contractions that caused dilation? Or had any "episodes" like the one I had last night where you had BH contractions and they went away?

I'm only 29.5 wks pregnant so I'm a little concerned that maybe I should go to L & D for monitoring anyway.

  1.  I don't know how old these posts are, but I'm only 27 weeks with twin girls and my Braxton Hicks are getting much more frequent. Last night I was laying in bed and had 3 in a 30 minute time span. I had a lot of water yesterday, so I doubt i was dehydrated. Fortunately they went away. I have read that if you have more than 4 in an hour you should call your doctor; however, they will likely just tell you to rest and drink water. I agree that if you are worried, go get monitored - it will help ease your worry and you can make sure that everything is okay. Take care!
