The second phase of the CSV Continental Beach Volleyball Continental started off in Santiago, Chile on Thursday, November 24. A total of 10 men’s beach volleyball teams entered the competition, which included two pairs from Brazil. Harley Marques Silva and
Evandro Gocalves Oliveira Junior represented Brazil 1, while Julio Cesar Do Nascimento Junior and Ricardo Alessandro Brandao Sousa played under the tag of Brazil 2. On Day-3 of the tournament, both teams did exceptionally well and clinched success in all four
matches. They went against Ecuador, Uruguay, and Venezuela and overcame their opponents with great offense and defence.
Match 1
The vibrant duo of Harley and Evandro overpowered Maldonado brothers of Ecuador in the first match of Day-3. Brazilian duo dominated the opposite side with better display of attack and defence. Ecuador trailed behind with a big margin of points and dropped
the match in straight sets. Harley/ Evandro closed the first set at 21-8 and declared match victory by sending 21-10 on board in the second set.
Match 2
In the next encounter, the pairing of Julio and Brandao followed the footsteps of their comrades and added one more victory to their tally. They saw off Uruguay 2, which comprised of Renzo Cairus and Federico Corbo. Comparatively, Julio and Brandao had to
put in more effort to win the match. The resilient rivals from Uruguay did not give up easily. They fought until the ending moments of the match and resisted to their full potential. In the first set of the match, they came really close to Brazil but fell
short of victory with a margin of only three points (18-21). Nonetheless, Brazil managed to put pressure on the Uruguayans in the second set and finished the game 2-0 by winning second set, 21-16.
Match 3
The triumphant duo of Harley and Evandro returned to action in the third match and saw Venezuela’s Jackson Henriquez and Jesus Villafane on the other side of the net. Venezuelan tandem staged a good fight and closely contested the opening set. However, spikes
from Harley and powerful aces by Evandro enabled Brazil to capture the first set, 21-16. With the winning edge, they worked out a better performance in the following set and put an end to the match by posting 21-8 in the second set. Venezuela lost the match
in straight sets, while Brazil celebrated third win of the day-3.
Match 4
After losing their first match to Brazil 1, Maldonado brothers (Daniel and Javier Maldonado) took on Julio and Brandao of Brazil 2 in the next match. Brazilian team, on the other hand, had already scored one victory against Uruguayan team earlier in the
day. Hence, the charged up Brazilians proved to be too strong for Ecuador and finished the fourth match 2-0 (21-12, 21-15).
