Brazil tipped to secure a place in the final round of 2012 FIVB World League – Volleyball news
Men’s national volleyball team of Brazil, which is placed in Pool B of the 2012 FIVB World League, has high hopes to secure a spot in the final round of the tournament.
In first three legs of the tournament, Brazil appeared in a total of nine matches and added six victories to its count. Currently, Brazil is staying on top of the list in Pool B. The last leg of the preliminary round of 2012 FIVB World League is scheduled
to be kicked off on Friday, June 15. Brazilian hotshots will play three more matches, in order to complete the preliminary round robin of the tournament. The team is determined to give out a good performance and to claw its way to the final round, which is
scheduled to take place in Sofia, Bulgaria from July 4-8.
Brazil opened the 2012 FIVB World League alongside teams from Finland, Poland, and Canada. First-week matches of Pool B were held in Toronto, Canada from May 18-20. Brazil did not catch a good start in campaign and dropped two out of three matches in the
first week.
In the next run, Polish City Katowice provided the backdrop for the second-week matches of Pool B. The participating teams travelled to Poland and each team played three matches, according to the set formula of the competition. Brazil displayed better action
in the second week and ended up with 2-1 record.
Brazilian team returned to home in the third week and played third set of matches in front of the local fans. The emotional support of fans and advantage of familiar conditions perfectly worked out for Brazil and the hosts finished third leg of the tournament
without any loss. Success in the third week played a big role in bringing Brazil to top. Furthermore, the local team sealed its first victory over Poland in this year’s competition. Sao Bernardo served as host to Pool B matches in third week.
Next up, the city of Tampere, Finland is set to host the fourth flight of Pool B. This is going to be the crucial round as the last leg results will have a major impact on teams’ positions. Group leaders Brazil and second-placed Poland will have a tough
competition, while hosts Finland will also try to profit from the home advantage. The top team of Pool B will go straight into the final round and will join Bulgaria. Brazil has bright prospects to qualify for the final round of the competition.
