volleyball tournament.
A total of 16 teams from around the globe will be on board to showcase their skills and show thirst for the world title. In this connection, the young athletes all across the five continents are sharpening their skills to perform better and to catch the
limelight at 2011 FIVB Boys’ Youth World Championship.
The Boys’ National Youth Team of Brazil is also preparing for the upcoming mega event. Brazilian squad is supervised by head coach, Percy Oncken who is all up for the challenge. He has picked out a 17-player team, which is undergoing extensive training and
practices these days.
In recent memory, the Brazilian team played a series of friendly matches with Dutch team. The city of Bauru, Sao Paulo in Brazil hosted the activity, where two teams played six matches. The hosts clean-swept the opponents and finished with the final score
of 6-0 on Friday, May 6, 2011.
The friendly matches were precisely a part of the preparations of Brazilian Team for 2011 FIVB Boys’ Youth World Championship.
The mentor of Brazilian team, Oncken commented, “Those friendly games were extremely positives for our group. The team were evaluated during the games. We have 17 players and I almost all played today. The boys are already showing better volleyball than
at the beginning of the season.”
Brazil continues with the preparation in the next week. They are scheduled to take on Argentina on May 19, 20, and 21. Brazil will play host for the friendly matches. Furthermore, the team will also travel to Europe and have some more practice matches against
different teams. They are also set to participate in the Pan American Cup in Mexico, which will be held in June.
The friendly matches will help Brazilian team to get ready for the 2011 Youth World Championship. Brazil will have to face Teams like defending champion Serbia, Russia and Iran, which are considered the pre-favourites of the championship. Hence, Brazil has
to come up with better strategy in order to overcome the power of resilient rivals.
