Brazilian Grand Prix: Nico Hulkenberg takes the pole in a wet qualifying session at Interlagos (?!)
The biggest question mark in the Formula 1 universe is that did Nico Hulkenberg really take the pole position in the qualifying session of the Brazilian Grand Prix? Of course, he
did take the pole position, but how? It was one of the most shocking results ever as Nico Hulkenberg was well over a second clear of Sebastian Vettel in 2nd place who was followed by his teammate Mark Webber in 3rd
place in the classification.
This was one of the most shocking qualifying performances in the history of Formula 1 and it seems that the top 4 drivers who are contending for the drivers’ title will be scratching their heads after this session and thinking
what went wrong for them.
Just for the record, Nico Hulkenberg is a Williams-Cosworth driver who drives alongside teammate Rubens Barrichello. Rubens, on the other hand, qualified in 6th place and that is not a bad result at all for Williams.
Lewis Hamilton followed the top 3 in 4th place followed by Fernando Alonso in 5th. Jenson Button, as always, had another disappointing qualifying session as he qualified in 11th place and did not
even make it to the Q3 session. Felipe Massa, however, finished in 9th
place ahead of Vitaly Petrov while his teammate, who topped the final practice session at Interlagos in wet conditions, Robert Kubica, finished in 7th place ahead of Michael Schumacher in 8th place.
By the looks of it, the start of the Brazilian Grand Prix is going to be a cracker as the top 4 drivers in the drivers’ standings are going to swarm all around Nico Hulkenberg and if one were Nico Hulkenberg right now, one would
be worried a lot.
It is going to be interesting to see how Nico starts his race and since aggressive drivers like Sebastian Vettel, Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton follow him, it is not going to be easy in any way to finish the first lap ahead
of these fast & furious drivers.
As the 2010 championship is progressing towards its climax, the top 4 drivers will fight like Rocky Balboa and try their to finish with maximum points and secure a safe spot in the drivers’ standings before heading into the grand
finale in Abu Dhabi.
