Brazilian Grand Prix Preview - Part 2
The chances of the Jenson Button also seem fairly thin because of the fact that the McLaren do not possess one of the fastest cars of the season. As already seen in many of the rounds, the two McLaren drivers struggled hard to beat the Red Bulls but all
went in vain. Moreover, a similar dominance over McLaren is expected by Ferraris as well, as the Italian team has outpaced the British men several times earlier this year.
The reason why Button still stays optimistic, despite of knowing that there are only 50 more points to play for and all the other top four drivers are equally efficient, is the way the season has unwrapped. The year has seen so many uncertainties that now
anything could be expected on the track. The Brazilian Grand Prix earlier this year saw three of the top five drivers, Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel and Jenson Button pack the race pointless. Moreover, the last round in Korea also saw three drivers pack
without points, Mark Webber, Sebastian Vettel and Jenson Button. Now as Button heads for the last two rounds, he hopes to see some of his rivals walking out pointless while he aims the top position for himself in both the last rounds. Although, this seems
a far-fetched assumption for the Formula One racing, yet the British team is also supporting its driver.
However, Alonso has very openly declared that he is no longer bothered about Button’s presence in the race. For him, the misery of Korea has completely pushed Button out of the tug now. Nonetheless, for Button the hope for the title would only be possible
if Alonso fails to score in both next races and Webber fails in one and looses podium in the other. Moreover, both the other contenders of the title, Hamilton and Vettel would also need to score real poor to grant him the title. Although this seems a little
too unreal, Button and his team are hoping for the best.
With all this said, the tug among the other top other four drivers currently seems far tighter. Alonso stands at the top of the tally with his 231 points while the Red Bull driver, Webber follows him for second place being 11 points short of him, having
bagged 220 points so far. Alonso savoured 5 race wins in total in the season, whereas Webber had been able to bag only four so far. On the other hand, the third place of the tally has been occupied by the aggressive McLaren driver, Hamilton with his 210 points.
Though he is 21 points adrift the charts’ topper yet his chances of recapturing his throne are quite high.
Hamilton is a driver whose skills and wonders on the track are already obvious to everyone. The British racer was able to end his debut season at the Formula One at 2nd place while the very next season raised him to his first championship title.
This marked him as the youngest world champion of Formula One history, a record that was previously held by Alonso.
Now, despite of being at the third place and admitting the fact that they have the 3rd fastest car of the season, he still remains the favourite for the world title this year as well.
Moreover, many of the reporters and race analysts, after Webber’s poor finish last week have already predicted that the battle has become very difficult for him to win now. With two of the most fierce and strong-minded drivers, like Alonso and Hamilton to
battle with, Webber might not be able to chop off many points. The only fact that still keeps him a strong contender is his RB6.
To be continued…
