Brazilian Grand Prix Preview - Part 3
While talking about the points’ tally the 3rd and 4th places are occupied by Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel with their 210 and 206 points respectively. Currently, they stand 21 and 25 points adrift the charts’ topper Fernando Alonso
who has 231 points in total. Despite of the very small difference, they still have a very tough battle to fight as there are only two races left before the season ends and that means they have only 50 more points to play for.
To bag a victory for any of the two, Hamilton or Vettel, they definitely need to win the Brazilian Grand Prix. Moreover, it is not only that they need victory, but also it would be necessary to see Alonso end up his race off the podium. On the other hand,
if Alonso is able to bag one more race win or even a second place on the podium, this week, the chances of the two would be very little. Only if somehow Alonso retires from the last race in Abu Dhabi, then any of the two, Hamilton and Vettel, might embrace
podium.
Another big challenge for Hamilton is that the other team driver, Jenson Button had not been able to get to the podium for a very long time. In the last 8 races the British driver has just been seen once on the podium. Also, Button has rejected to back Hamilton
for the next two races, believing that his battle for the title is still not over. In this situation, unlike Alonso, Hamilton cannot depend on his teammate to keep off the rivals and steal points for him.
Contrary to this, both the Red Bull men are equally competent and have been doing pretty good since the start of the season. Having bagged four race wins so far Webber stands at 2nd place with his 220 points while his teammate stands at 4th
with 206. Though the last weekend in Korea had been the poorest one for the team as both the drivers walked out of the race without having bagged any points yet they remain optimistic. With the hope that the clouds of ill-fate have gone away and having the
fastest car of the season, they now head for the next race, ready to steal away as many points as they can.
However, besides the fact that the chances of Webber are far more than that of Vettel, the team refuses to follow team orders. The Red Bull team principal, Christian Horner, has announced time and again all through the season that he feels that both the
team drivers are equally good and he would let them both race freely until the end of the season. The way he has made his position at the top starting from fifth, proves a great pace and form of the driver. Moreover, he has a pretty fast car as well, which
has performed brilliantly at all different types of tracks, all through the season.
Above all, the Spaniard also has his teammate, Felipe Massa to assist him. Massa did a brilliant job last weekend in Korea as he ended at third place on the podium. Now in the upcoming races he is expected to do equally good by stealing as many points as
he can from the rivals to ensure Alonso’s dominance in the tug for the title.
Though the 2010 season has unfolded in a dramatic fashion and making any assumptions is not going be of any help, but looking at the current scenario, the position of Alonso seems stronger than anybody else.
The race weekend is also predicted to have rainfall. With this the situation would become more intense at the track, a race which is already expected to be a nail biting and jaw dropping competition.
