Brazilian Marriage proposal?

This might sound silly but I was wondering how brazilian do proposals. My boyfriend is brazilian and we have talked about marriage but I want to know if they do the whole ring one knee thing. HElp!

my brazilian fiance got down on one knee with the diamond but he has also lived in america for 11years and knew this is what i wanted.

Brazilians don't really do the "down-on-one-knee proposal" but the custom is that the man asks the family of the bride for her hand in marriage. its called a 'noivado'. From then both of them get engament bands on their right hands and everyone will recognize you guys as 'noivo' and 'noiva' .

This is the period of time beofore the wedding that you two would decide on the details of your wedding and future...

the wedding band however, isnt not a big diamond ring that people will see from a mile away. it is almost always(or at least everyone's bands that i have seen) were just simple yellow gold band.

Now, if your boyfriend grew up somewhere else or adopted the culture of America, he probably will do the traditional American proposal.

hopefully he will do it the way you would feelthe most comfortable.

Brazilians marriage proposals are usually less elaborate than the American ones as most American plan really crazy romantic ways to propose while Brazilians will most likely just pop the question.

If in Brazil, once it is accepted the fiance will usually ask the fiancee's hand in marriage to her family and there will be an engagement party. As for the engagement ring, fiance and fiancee will wear an engagement ring which is usually the wedding band used in the right hand (after marriage the bands will be used in the left hand)
