Brazilian Women’s junior team signals intent to rock podium at Junior Volleyball Championship
The Junior Brazilian Women’s Volleyball team is all set to participate in the FIVB Junior Women’s Volleyball Championships. The former champions had a poor showing last time and are very keen on winning the gold this year against some tough competition.
The 2011 FIVB Women’s Junior Volleyball Championship is approaching fast and according to the FIVB 2011 World Tour Calendar, the Junior World Championship will take place from July 22 to July 31. The Peruvian cities, Lima and Trujillo, will host the international
campaign. Sixteen teams featuring the world’s finest Under-20 players will vie for the top honour of the championship. Brazil is one of the top contenders for the Gold and favourites for the tournament.
The head coach of the team, Luiz Omar Mora expressed his views about the whole preparation process and team-line and stated, "With the injuries of Samara and Gabriela, we're at an important time with the preparation of the group. The girls who entered the
team managed to maintain their level. Problems like this strengthen the group."
In the previous edition of the championship in 2009, Brazil could not perform up to the mark and settled for only a bronze medal. Meanwhile, the teams from Germany and Dominican Republic stole the show and captured the top two positions in the rankings.
Nonetheless, Brazil firmly held the top position in international ranking for having the maximum number of titles. Six gold-medal wins at the podium of FIVB Junior World Championship make the Brazilian squad the most decorated.
Once again, the team is ready to put on another fabulous show of volleyball. The team is preparing hard for the upcoming tournament. They are preparing at home and also playing friendly practice matches with different national and international teams. Recently,
the Brazilian team clashed with the junior team from Italy. The match was played on Monday, May 24 and Brazil was featured as the guest team in Italy. The spectacular performance of Brazilian musketeers allowed them to pull off success in three straight sets.
The home squad put up a valiant effort but ended up losing to Brazil.
Likewise, Brazilian team played some matches against Russian and Czech Republic, while touring Europe. The South-American squad never failed to impress and exhibited flawless performance. They have now scored nice consecutive wins in previous matches. This
clearly shows that the Brazilian team is fully prepared to rock the podium in the upcoming 2011 FIVB Women’s Junior World Championship.
