In a shocking turn of events, veteran Olympique Lyonnais defender Cris has hit out at his teammates for the lack of ambition following Les Gones’ recent poor form that has ruined their Champions League hopes.

However, things have changed for the club. if not being able to win a trophy for almost three years was not enough, the club might even miss out on the Champions League next season, something that fans haven’t witnessed for almost 12 years.
Despite his age and changed status, Cris still has a lot of attachment with the club and has observed things that have forced him to step to the breach and say what he feels he should as one of the most senior players in the side.
Cris gave an interview in which he spoke about the club’s recent poor form and spoke out the importance of returning to winning ways.
The Brazilian has been at the club long enough to understand how things will affect the team if they fail to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
“If you do not qualify, it will change many things. It is a nice staff, very expensive too. In terms of payroll, it would be complicated, players could leave,” warned Cris who knows that President, Jean-Michel Aulas will certainly make a lot of changes if
the club is unable to qualify for Europe’s most prestigious club competition.
“Before, players were more ambitious. Today, they come to Lyon to win but are not totally ambitious. This is what needs to change. In the field, we must be more aggressive and play to win. At some meetings, the commitment is not there.”
Clearly, what he is seeing these days is causing Cris a lot of pain and he wants to change things. The Brazilian has the club’s best interest in his heart and probably has done a good thing by criticising young players who need to start taking more responsibility.
