Brazilian driver Felipe Massa of Ferrari needs to win
The Brazilian driver, Felipe Massa of Ferrari stands at eighth place in the Drivers’ Championship so far. With half of the 2010 season already gone he had hardly been able to bag two podium positions whereas no race wins so far.
Massa, who had to miss half of the 2009 season owing to the head injury he had in Hungary last year, has not been able to deliver the results that were expected from him as he returned to the track earlier this season.
The year started off pretty good for him but as the races kept unfolding he kept losing his pace and had not been able to secure a podium after the first two races of the season.
As the season started he was lucky to have the first race finished at second place on the podium, one place behind his teammate, Fernando Alonso, thus earning eighteen points right at the beginning. The excellent start increased the expectations of his fans which had sadly not been fulfilled henceforth.
As the Formula One caravan started its journey towards its second destination, Australia, he gave a satisfactory race in the qualifying session and started the race from fifth position giving a flawless racing spectacle. Massa was able to end at the podium once again, this time at third place. From there onwards he has not been able to shine at the podium till present.
At the Malaysian Grand Prix he had a poor qualifying session, starting the race from twenty first position, but was able to surprise everybody as he ended the race at seventh place. The next race of the season was scheduled in China in the middle of April, where he was hardly able to end at ninth place while he started off from seventh place on the grid.
The fifth round, Spanish grand Prix added eight points to his collection of the season as he ended the race at sixth place leaping three places from his ninth grid position.
As the season proceeded and cars moved towards their next destination, Monaco, one of the most beloved tracks of the race fans where Massa was able to gain his pace back.
He was able to start the race from fourth place and finished it at forth place as well, thus having a total of sixty one points under his belt. Since then the stars of the racer had not shined again for he had only been able to earn only another six points in the last four races.
At the end of May, the Istanbul circuit hailed the next race of the season where he finished at seventh place while having begun from eight grid position. The Canadian Grand Prix proved unfortunate as he started from sixth place whereas had it finished at fifteenth place.
Next came the European Grand Prix, another poor race for the Brazilian, having started from fifth place and ending pointless at eleventh place.
The last race of the season at the Silverstone had been another poor one for him as he sadly had his right rear tyre punctured in the first lap of the race and had to make a pit stop. Later at the thirty ninth lap he once again rushed for an unscheduled pit stop after having spun at the final corner his tyre had gone flat. The race ended at fifteenth place while he started it from seventh place, thus marking the third consecutive pointless race.
Well, as Massa heads for the next race of the season, with evidently little luck and the shadow of several poor races right behind him all his fans as well as his team have their fingers crossed as they wish to see him have a better finish for the latter half of the season.
