Brazilian duos compete for empty slots at Swatch Junior World Championship – Beach Volleyball
The 2011 FIVB SWATCH Junior World Championship is set take centre stage in the month of August. The International Beach Volleyball Tournament will be kicked off on August 31 and will go on until September 4. The town of Halifax, Canada, will serve as the host of the event even though the grid of participants has not yet been finalised. The aspiring male and female duos from all around the world are looking forward to snagging a spot on the final roster of 2011 SWATCH Junior World Championship.
The birth place of beach volleyball, Brazil, is also working on its players for the upcoming international competition. Aspiring duos from Brazil gathered at the training and selection camp in Saquarema, Rio de Janeiro on Monday, July 4. There are four available slots for Brazilian players. One male duo and one female tandem will represent the country at the 2011 FIVB SWATCH Junior World Championship. The Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBV) is holding the training and selection camp for the next two months and then the final decision will be made. Right now a group of 10 players has joined the training and selection camp. The group comprises of four male and six female players. The details of the players are as followed:

Antonio Fernando Leao will be attached with the group as male head coach, while Rodrigo Fotes Ribeiro will be coach in charge of the female hopefuls. Only four players will get a chance to maintain Brazil’s rich tradition in the 10-year old event. Brazilian players have done a great job at the FIVB SWATCH Junior World Championship in the previous years. That is why Brazil is regarded as a country with most medals in the FIVB SWATCH Junior World Championship.
