Brazilian female stars honoured by the CBV – Beach Volleyball Update
Recently the Confederation Brazil de Volleyball (CBV) honoured the best players of 2011 Brazilian Banco do Brasil Beach Volleyball Tour with different awards. The award ceremony was held in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil, on Sunday, December 11. In the female
category, Larissa Franca was crowned as the best player of tour for second consecutive year. Furthermore, the following players also settled for different awards:
Juliana Felisberta – Best Spiker Taiana Lima – Best Digger Maria Elisa Antonelli – Best Server Juliana Felisberta – Best Blocker Larissa Franca – Best Setter Shaylyn Bede – Best Receiver Elize Maia – Most Improved Female Player Rebecca Silva – Rookie
Additionally, Reis Castro was honoured as the best female coach of the 2011 Banco do Brasil Tour. She was credited for training Juliana/Larissa and leading them to success.
The Olympian Larissa totally deserved the honour as she put up a great show of beach volleyball throughout the season. She proved her endeavours on the national circuit and also did exceptionally well in international events. She teamed-up with dynamic Juliana
Felisberta Silva and won seven tournaments on the national circuit this season. It is the fifth time in last six seasons that she got hold of the honour. In this regard, she overcame her partner Juliana and Talita Antunes.
Larissa expressed delight on getting the Best Player award and thanked everyone, who supported her in the effort. It was very considerate of her to pay special homage to her partner Juliana. She articulated her emotions in the following manner: “It is really
rewarding being recognized after such a huge effort. I can only thank everyone who helped me to win this prize: my family, my staff, and my partner, Juliana.”
The Pan American champion, Larissa, was also named as the best setter of the tour, while her teammate Juliana got hold of the best spiker award. Meanwhile, Maria Elisa Antonelli, Shaylyn Bede, and Taiana Lima were also happy to receive acknowledgement of
their hard work. Elize Maia was encouraged with the award of the most improved player and she is determined to stick to the same winning route in the future.
