Question:

Brazilian ju jitsu-judo gi's?

i was wondering if i could use the same gi for brazilian jujitsu that i use for judo, or are they types of gi's.

  1. You could use one but you'd probably be ribbed about it. There are some differences between Judo gi and BJJ gi/kimono. The sleeves are more tapered, the collar is usually much stiffer and, on good brands, the suit is not seamed and made of a single piece of material. The main thing though is the look. There is a lot of 'attitude' in a BJJ gi and they are usually pretty colourful in terms of patches and branding.

    So yeah, you could use one but chances are you would look like the poor kid on the block sorry to say.

  2. yeah you could wear it no problem.  judo gi's work just fine plus you could find more cheap judo gi's than cheap bjj gi's.  don't worry about looking poor, you're practical

  3. That's what I did.  My school even sold Judo gis to new students so that they didn't have to pay an arm and a leg for a gi.
