Ramires, the 24-year-old Chelsea and Brazilian midfielder, admitted he had Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti to thank for helping him adjust to English football. The midfielder has improved drastically since his arrival at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2010.
Ramires joined Chelsea in August of 2010 from Benfica on a four year contract for a fee of €22 million. While his career in England started relatively slow, he has emerged as an excellent midfielder in the recent fixtures as the season draws to a close.
The Brazil international revealed he credited the Blues boss for much of his development at the London club. Ramires has made 35 appearances for Chelsea and has managed to find the back of the net twice this season in all competitions.
The Chelsea boss’ position at Chelsea has recently been the subject of much speculation after the Blues were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League, successfully ending their chances of securing any silverware this season.
While Ancelotti risks losing his job at the end of the season, Ramires thinks he is a world class coach and should remain at the Bridge. The Italian manager has proved himself in his first season with the Blues, leading them to their first ever double of
the English Premier League and the FA Cup.
This season has not been as successful for the Italian, with his side being eliminated from the FA Cup and the Carling Cup early on in the season. They have no chance of retaining their Premier League title either, currently third place on the Premier League
table.
Ramires said while speaking to reporters, “Ever since I arrived, Carlo Ancelotti has shown a lot of confidence in my job. He gave me time to adapt in the beginning, to gain confidence myself, and to hear praise from the coach is pleasing.”
The Brazilian midfielder revealed he intended to work hard in the future, he continued, “I always try to do my best on the pitch and when I show what I can do it is good to get positive comments, not just from the coach but also from colleagues.”
