Brazilian wonderkid Alexandre ‘the duck’ Pato says he would only leave AC Milan for FC Barcelona
AC Milan's Brazilian wonder kid, Alexandre Pato, has insisted that if he was to ever leave the San Siro, then he would do so to play for Barcelona in Spain and no other team in the world.
The mercurial Brazilian forward has time and time again been linked with a move out of Italy and to England, but so far neither one of those rumours have materialized. Nonetheless it was still strongly believed that this
season was going to be the player’s last in Italy and that he would soon become a player in the English Premier League.
The Chelsea manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has been a long term admirer of the player and has never kept his appreciation and love for the player a secret. At the same time, there have been major rumours of Manchester City and
Roberto Mancini looking to spend tonnes of cash on the young player to lure him to the Eastlands.
The forward has recently been made aware of these rumours and responded to them by saying: "I am honoured by City's interest, but I am a Milan player and I'm happy here."
"If one day I do leave Milan, I'd like to wear the Barcelona jersey. I think I'd only leave Milan for Barcelona."
There have been some other reports that have been floating about regarding the player’s implied move to Barcelona. Apparently the deal that saw Zlatan Ibrahimovic go to Milan, wasn't as simple and easy for Milan as it initially
appeared. According to recent findings Pato was part of late swap deal for the player. If this is true, then it would just go to show that Barcelona are clearly much more than just a club, as their motto suggests. Only they aren't sugar, spice and everything
nice as they appear to be, but in fact a much darker, money minded machine lurks behind their much more publicly acceptable image.
Nonetheless a move for the Brazilian to City would be rather pointless, for both the parties. Pato would probably rot on the City bench, since the team is already over flowing with talent left and right and would prove to
be another victim of poor career choices.
City also need to realize that being greedy and buying all the players in the world, will never assure them success.
