Brazil’s Ronaldo tips Real Madrid to progress to the Champions League final
Former Brazil international Ronaldo has tipped Real Madrid to overcome Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final tie between the two Spanish giants.
Ronaldo has played for both Real Madrid and Barcelona during his illustrious career, so when he gives a prediction on the outcome of an El Clasico, it is wise to listen. The former striker admits that Barcelona have been the best team in the world in recent
years, but he believes that Jose Mourinho’s new look Real Madrid will manage to defeat the Catalans over the two legs of their Champions League semi-final.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Romania-c2990 in Sao Paulo on June 7, 2011 having recently announced his definitive retirement from competitive football. However, even though he has put
his playing days behind him, Ronaldo still keeps a close eye on the goings-on at his former clubs.
Speaking ahead of the contest, Ronaldo said, “My feeling is that Real Madrid will win the match. I commented last week with some friends that Barcelona are the best team of the last 15 years. All the players in all positions know exactly what to do both
when they have the ball as when they don't.”
He added, “It is going to be a very difficult match. The outcome will be defined in the second game, but you never know what will happen in a 'clasico'.”
Despite being thrashed 5-0 at the Nou Camp by Barcelona earlier in the ongoing 2010-11 season, Real Madrid have proved that they are more than capable of competing with the best team in the world. The Galacticos forced a 1-1 draw from an impossible situation
when the two teams met in the La Liga two weeks ago, before overcoming their bitter rivals 1-0 in the Copa del Rey final.
Madrid undoubtedly have more momentum coming into the match, but as Ronaldo says, one can never be sure of what will happen when the two Spanish giants collide.
Barcelona and Real Madrid will go head to head for the first leg of their Champions League semi-final encounter on April 27, 2011 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
