Brazil's Sollys Osasco to face Fenerbahce in Women’s Club World Championship final
The FIVB Women’s Volleyball Club World Championship 2010 started off with six teams from different continents. It was the first time that FIVB featured the women’s game in the Club World Championship at Doha, Qatar. After the conclusion of the opening round
of matches, the tournament reached the semi-final stage. The four qualifying teams included:

Fenerbahce – Turkey Mirador- Dominican Republic Bergamo- Italy Sollys Osasco – Brazil
In the first semi-final, Turkish side Fenerbahce held off the Dominican Republic’s Mirador to seal a spot in the final of the tournament. While Brazil’s Sollys Osasco and Italian Bergamo faced off in the second semi-final. The Brazilian team proved to be
the better side, and posted a 3-0 (25-22, 25-20 and 25-21) victory over Bergamo.
First Set
The Italians began the game confidently, and played some impressive shots to take an early lead. They were however pegged back by their opponents, who found their rhythm after a sluggish start.
Sollys Osasco remained consistent and managed to take lead in the game. At the first technical timeout, the Brazilians led the score 13-10. Bergamo gradually lost their momentum after that break in play and fell further behind. The Brazilians took full advantage
of their rivals’ mistakes, and strengthened their grip on the opening set. Brazil’s Natalia Pereira didn’t allow the Italian side to settle into the game with her powerful strokes.
Jaqueline and Adenizia led the fight back for Bergamo, and managed to close the gap to two points with some brilliant blocking. However Natalia continued her brilliant form to lead Sollys Osasco to win the first set 25-22.

Second Set
After dropping the first set, the Italian team responded strongly in the second set. Their performance improved as they stormed into an early 4-1 lead. However, Osasco bounced back to level the game at 4-all. Ortolani then pushed Bergamo’s score to up to
seven. Osasco trailed the Italians by two points, but kept themselves within touching distance. Adenizia however stood firm for the Brazilians, and pulled off some great blocks. She successfully broke the rhythm of Italians and forced them on the defensive.
Jacqueline’s swift spikes created further trouble the Bergamo defence. Osasco really took control of the game after the second technical timeout (TTO). Bergamo trailed them by four points, but could not claw their way back into the game and eventually lost
the set 25-20.
Third Set
Bergamo was deep in trouble after losing two sets in a row. As the game entered the third and decisive set, the Brazilian spikers attacked with more ferocity and further tightened their grip on the game. Osasco’s team played in their usual style, and made
scoring very difficult for the Italians. Bergamo failed to cope with the power of Jacqueline’s shots, to lose the set 25-21. Natalia Pereira of Brazil was the games top scorer. She scored 15 points from 47 attempts.
