So heres the deal. My fiance was an owner operator leased to swift who had the lease through IEL. My fiance stopped making money so we brought the truck back and when we did we were never told any of the consequences. This happened about month and a half ago. Just know a man from IEL called my fiance after business hours to tell him that we were responsible for $8,000 on the truck and the only way we could make payments is if we came up with half of it now. He said if we don't pay it that his license could get taken away and he read it to him from the "LEASE". Well I just checked the lease and can't find where it says his license could get revoked anywhere. Is this a ploy?

  1. You probably have to consult a lawyer about your rights and obligations under the lease, but it seems highly unlikely that a commercial default could cause the revocation of a driving license.  I think the collector is trying to threaten him.  Make him show you exactly what paragraph he is referring to in the lease.
