  1. Here is a link to the gov't page discussing the breakdown of gasoline cost.  It was last updated for 2007, so I'd estimate you can subtract at least 2% from each of the other cost categories and add that 6% to the crude cost.

    Georgia charges 7.5 cents per gallon, plus a 4% sales tax.  This give them a variable rate, beased on the street price, so right now, Georgia is raking in the bucks for gas tax.  At $3.75/gallon, the state gets 15 cents/gallon, for an effective rate of 22.5 cents/gallon, which is about average across the US.  I provided a link below to the taxation rates by state below.

    Breakdown in dollars per gallon:

    Crude-       2.48

    State tax - 0.225

    Federal Tax- 0.184

    Distribution- 0.30

    Refining -      0.56

    Currently, with crude at $130/barrel, a gallon of crude oil is priced at $3.09.  There are other components of oil that sell for far more than gasoline, industrial chemicals for example.
