Hi, I rent an apartment in LA. I want to move but I must pay break lease (3*$2150). In fact I found a job in Europe (I'm French) and I don't want to come back here (only on vacation). What are the risks if I leave without pay the break lease? Thanks a lot! I know it's bad don't judge me please. Cindy

  1. What is this nonsense about "don't judge me"?

Hey, I'm a bad person, trying to s***w people over, but don't tell me I'm bad.  Just tell me how to get out of consequences for breaking the law.

People are so self-centered these days.  Maybe you'll lose your job over there and have to come back here.  Then, no one will want to rent to you.

  2. IF YOU DONT REALLY CARE ABOUT YOUR CREDIT SCORE AND YOU ARE NOT COMING BACK TO US GO FOR IT.  BUT DONT FORGET ABOUT CARMA, WANT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND

  3. It will effect your credit. The place will turn your name to a collection agency which will call and hassle the c**p out of you, and it will be reported on your credit which can cause a lot of problems when trying to get a loan. It won't go away unless you go bankrupt, which will hurt you even more. Or they could take you to court and get a judgement against you to pay for it.  So I don't think I'd do that if I couldn't work out a deal with someone. Although if you are going to live in Europe and stay there than I don't know how much a bad debt here in America will hurt you...

But if you are wondering if technically they can force you to pay it...the answer is no. They cannot force you to pay it, nor can they hold anything of yours hostage. They may try and sue you though, which could mean you could have to fly back over and go to court, and then have a judgement which will once again hurt your credit, and eventually your wages could be garnished.
