My roommates and I are looking into going snowboarding in Colorado for spring break this year. (Mar 8-Mar 15). We are trying to decide if we should go to steamboat or Breckenridge. We trying to go for as cheap as possible considering were college students and do not have a lot of money. We are wondering which place would be better for skiing / snowboarding. We also are wondering which one has better bars/ nightlife. Any other recommendations on ways to save money would be greatly appreciated. (i.e. food, lift tickets, etc)

  1. well lets see do you like pow, or do u like to ride terrain parks and rails and stuff? that is one thing that matters, toehr that that i cant help cause i  am an eastern rider( i think steamboats cheaper but look for deas)

  2. Go to Breck.  There are a lot more resorts nearby.  Keystone, Copper, Breck, Vail.  You can stay in Frisco, CO which is way cheaper than mountainside, but only about 10 minutes away.

Steamboat is okay, but there is a lot less to do in the surrounding area since it is a destination resort.

  3. i went to breck last spring break it wasnt that bad unless ur lookin to ski bunny hills or greens but if your lookin for blacks and sum blues you should go there they have awesome skiing ,nighlife . but it can be a little pricey

  4. Niether...they both suck.  Steamboat brags about their powder, but if you dont get fresh snow the day you get there, its pretty much worthless.  And it has a low base elevation, so if it gets at all warm, have fun skiing in the slush.  Breckenridge has way too many tourists (wait, u guys are tourists,) and on spring break it will be so packed you will have to wait in line for about 20 minutes just to get on the lift.  Winter Park, Snowmass, and Wolf Creek are all good options.

  5. i personally like steamboat, they are pretty expensive, but i like the resort a lot, and im pretty sure breckenridge is expensive to

  6. Neither!

Crested Butte is the place. Steamboat is anything but cheap, and Breck is always packed. Crested Butte is perfect for the rider on a college budget but wants some "steep and deep". Friendly locals and some great bars. I sound like an Ad....
