Question:

Breaking Dawn Question (Reading Thing)?

Am I the only one who didn't like the section for Jacob? I found it annoying. Not just because I don't like him, but because I was so used to hearing (reading) everything from HER perspective. And I really don't like Jacob.

But anyway, am I the only one who feels like that?

I don't want criticism on the WHOLE book, just the Jacob thing. Thanks

  1. Eh... I dunno. I never really liked Jacob after Edward came back in New Moon because he was a jerk. But I always feel sorry for the heartbroken ones, and he's a sweet guy, I guess.

I thought Jake's point-of-view was the best written and the most realistic. But it was also very annoying in parts because I wanted to know what the heck Bella was thinking, though she gets on my nerves with her doormat-ness. I was already put out with the book before Jacob took over, but it only got worse in Book Three, which read like a bad fan-fiction from the time that Bella woke up to the last few pages or so. I'm glad it was written so that we could see Edward's pain over Bella's sickness without having to listen to Bella's belly-aching and gooiness and utter sorrow (for causing Edward pain for not aborting her child and her always wanting Jacob.) Plus, we got to really love Seth, and understand what went on with the pack splitting. Bella wouldn't have been able to explain the sacrifice that Jake made accurately.

So I actually think that Jacob's part was decent, yet annoying. It was hard to switch narrators, but they were written similarly, anyway, (which actually made it more confusing for me, because I kept thinking Bella was speaking again.)

I also want to add that I really like Garrett's character. He might be my favorite character in the whole Twilight series. I wish we'd gotten more of him.

  2. Well personally I loved jacobs POV. Thats the only thing worth reading in there. After that its pointless and boring! I find breaking dawn a huge dissapointment to me. Everything just turned out so wrong. I hated it when i went back to bellas POV. I am not even finished with the book yet. The characters are horribly developed and some plot holes.

Jacob is about the only character i like throughout the entire series. And stephenie just blew it.

  3. Yeah, thats what I thought! I mean, I really wanted to hear Bella's perspective on the whole "baby" thing.

  4. At first it was hard for me to get into, I just wanted Bella! I skimmed the pages to find where Bella came back. Then focused on that to be looking forward to while reading Jacob. As I was reading Jacob, it came to me that that section was beneficial. I say this because we read his thoughts, and saw Edwards reaction to them. It wasn't really clear that he often answered and agreed/disagreed with peoples thoughts. I before had thought he didn't react to most of it. Also, without this Jacob section it would have been difficult to understand how quickly Jacob and Edward became friends(as I see them). And,  we would have been quicker to negatively judge him when he showed Charlie his shape-shifting. It makes sense there is a Jacob section just as it would have been beneficial if we had a Edward, Carlisle, or Alice section. I can see it was more likely to be Jacob or Edward section. SM has her reasons for this, and I understand them as much as I can.

  5. Ugh! i hated it too Jacob is soo boring all i wanted to know was how bella was doing witht he baby and edward and stuff freaking jaocb ruined the book!  Jacob was annoying to listen to especially when he was with bella i wanted to know how she felt about evrything not HIM!!!

  6. Yeah, you're the only one who feels like that. The section in the middle with Jake was the only part of BD that was actually GOOD.

Edward is an artificial abusive stalker.

  7. Probably not.

I loved the section from Jake's perspective, personally. But that's because Jake is basically the only character I like in the series. It was refreshing to hear from him for awhile-- I hate Bella. I hate reading her narration. Jake's book was the only one that was even mildly interesting to me.

But you probably aren't alone. It was kind of necessary for her to change to Jake's perspective, though. With the way she set things up, the middle section of the  book would have sucked from Bella's perspective. Really-- "Well, today I was sick. I hate morning sickness. The  baby kicked. I love blood! Yum yum. *sings* Oh, I hate throwing up, but I sip blood from a cup! *end song*. Oh no! I'm unconscious. I'm dying! Ah!". Yeah, it would have been boring, considering that Bella was out for the majority of the book. I mean, who wants to read about her being pregnant for like 300 pages, if there is something more exciting to be writing about?

The only problem I have with switching to Jake's perspective is that it's inconsistent with the rest of the series. If she was going to write from a different perspective, she should have started doing it in Twilight or New Moon.

  8. i liked it

i love it from bellas view- but his view was good 4 a change

  9. I'm not a fan of that part either, but it is supposed to show you what happened with-in the pack about Nessie. to know what Jake dealt with.

  10. Yea I agree with you. I, too, am so used to having everything in Bella's point of view. It kinda threw me off at first. The first time i ever read the book it annoyed me, but after reading it a couple of times, its not so bad.

  11. haha yeah i got to the jacob part and i was like "aw c**p!" I just don't find Jacob's life that interesting.

  12. it was really annoying because i kept on having to remind myself that it was jacob speaking and not bella

but it would have SUCKED if it was from bella i mean when jake would see edward hurting because bella was in pain we would have never seen that from bellas point of view  it would be like "oh edward seems to be holding up really well" and when they would go out and talk out side we wouldnt have known what they were talkign about

it just wouldnt be that informative

  13. I liked the Jacob section best because Jake is my favorite character (and I hate Bella). ^^  But a lot of people really hate him, so you're not alone.

The problem is that both the switch in Book Two of Breaking Dawn and in the Epilogue of Eclipse lack continuity with the rest of the story.  Until then everything is from Bella's perspective, so that's what we expect to hear.  When she up and decides near the end of the series that hey, wouldn't it be cool to hear from Jacob it comes out of nowhere.  Either she should have started presenting alternative perspectives from book one, or she should have stuck with Bella.
