*Breaking Dawn Spoilers* - Why do the Volturi have 'filmy' eyes?

The books describes their eyes as filmy, clouded, etc...

I remember the Romanian vampires saying something about as the kingdom burned, the Volturi's eyes became clouded and blurred... Don't remember the exact words.

So does this mean that the Volturi's eyes became filmy because of the smoke?

I can't be sure if this is right because I'm torn between vampires eyes being immune to pretty much everything and yet vampires are extremely vulnerable to fire and smoke is a product of fire.

  1. I was wondering about that too. I'm not sure.

Those Romanian vampires cracked me up. I liked them.

Maybe that, or they're like... blind or something.

  2. The reason why the had film over there eyes , once they defeated the Romanians the they weren't mobile anymore so their skin turned petrified and there eyes started turning filmy.
