Breaking EPL News: Ferguson fears extended Rooney lay-off due to injury
Sir Alex Ferguson revealed in his latest press conference that his star striker Wayne Rooney who recently signed a new five year contract with the Red Devils might be out for an extended period of time.
At first it was thought that the centre forward will miss three weeks of action but according to latest news, Rooney is facing an extended period on the side lines due to an aggravation of an injury which has plagued him since March 2010.
In the UEFA Champions League quarter final in late March during the Munich weekend, Rooney twisted his ankle while playing for Manchester United and as a result damaged his ligaments back then.
Since then Wayne has been declared fit on and off by both club and country physicians. More recently, Rooney was in the headlines for his declaration that he was not happy at Old Trafford.
It was shocking news to all Manchester United fans but the situation was well handled by Sir Alex Ferguson and David Gill who kept Rooney at the club by convincing him to sign a new five year contract that he was already put signature
on. Manchester United face Tottenham Hotspur in their next Premier League match on Saturday, 30TH of October 2010.
Rooney is sure to miss the match but the likes of Ryan Giggs, Luis Nani and Paul Scholes are expected to feature in United’s starting line up against Harry Redknapp’s side.
