Breaking EPL News: Liverpool to sign Royston Drenthe
Royston Drenthe a player, who has fallen from grace over the last couple of seasons, seems to be on the verge of joining a team that has too has had its fair share of problems in the past.
The Real Madrid utility side player, who is currently on loan at Hercules, has been informed that he is no longer a part of the team’s long term plans and as a result he has started to look elsewhere for a future in playing professionally.
The twenty three year old, has apparently caught the eyes of the Liverpool manager, Roy Hodgson who is looking to sign him if given the opportunity to do so.
With Liverpool’s new owners openly stating that the team won’t be given a very huge transfer budget, it seems like the out of favour player fits in that criterion as well. This is because the player will be available for as low as eight
million pounds.
Liverpool have been looking to strengthen up the left side of their team for the last  couple of seasons and with Drenthe being able to play as both a side back and a winger, he seems to be just the player that the team needs.
Drenthe is by no means a bad player, in fact the player is quite possibly one of the most skilful left backs in the world at the moment and the only reason for him falling out of Mourinho’s plans, is down to the fact that the manager wants
a far more defensive player and not a side back that likes to attack so much.
On the other hand, Liverpool seem to have a completely different mentality about their side backs. Glen Johnson who is one of the most treasured players at the team, is a side back but only for namesake. The defender tends to play more
as a winger, rather than a defensive player.
Considering he has not once been told by the team’s management to focus more on his defence it is safe to say that the manager expects his side backs to attack much more than the norm.
With that in mind it appears as though Drenthe is also the perfect player to fit in the Liverpool squad, the player is a very good crosser of the ball and makes some brilliant runs on the overlap and with him not being cup tied in Europe
the player could move into the team as soon as January.
