Breaking English Premier League News: Bent open to contract extension talks at Sunderland
Darren Bent has revealed that he is willing to discuss a contract extension with his current club, Sunderland F.C amidst rumours that the striker is headed to Liverpool in the January transfer window. Sunderland who are being managed by
Steve Bruce heavily rely on the Englishman for their goals. In the current season, Bent is the highest scorer for Sunderland, not only that; last season Bent was the highest goal scorer for Sunderland in the English Premier League as well.
His prolific nature in front of game has made him an invaluable asset to Sunderland but it is suggested in certain reports that Sunderland will be willing to part ways with the ex-Tottenham man if they are offered the right price. Sunderland
are looking at a figure of around 25 million pounds for the English striker but it is still under doubt whether Liverpool can cough up that amount transfer money in the January transfer window.
The 26-year-old Darren Bent made his move to Sunderland after falling out favour with Harry Redknapp at Tottenham in 2009. Thus far he has scored a total number of thirty four goals in fifty three appearances for the Black Cats. Bent has
also caught the eye of Fabio Capello with his remarkable performances for Sunderland. The English team manager has called up Bent on several occasions and it looks as if Bent will be a regular starter for England in the near future.
Bent spoke to the English media lately as he said, "I can't believe how well it's gone. If the offer of an extension came up I'd be more than happy to sign it. It's all about the football up here. It's all passion, passion, passion, but
the supporters' intensity has never scared me. They are looking at me to get the goals and that is a massive confidence booster."
Bent has made quite an impact at Sunderland as he has become a fan favourite due to his goals and passionate performances. He also has a good relationship with Steve Bruce, who has guided the career excellently since his arrival at the
Stadium of light. Bent praised Sunderland’s manager as he said, "He's got the ability to be the next England manager. Fergie is not going to go on forever, so that big job is waiting for someone to go and grab. He's a top man manager. When you're playing well,
there's no-one better at giving you a lift. When you're not doing well, he doesn't go over the top. He seems to get it right every time."
