Breaking Football News: Bastian Schweinsteiger reveals his ambition to play in England
In a swooping statement Schweinsteiger, the energetic German midfielder has come out in the open with his dream of playing in the English Premier League. Bastian rose to prominence during Bayern Munich’s double winning season in the
2009-2010 years when under Louis Van Gaal, the German giants won the DFB Pokal Cup as well as the Bundesliga title. Not only that, Bayern Munich with Schweinsteiger in their ranks also made it till the final of the UEFA Champions League only to lose to Jose
Mourinho’s Inter Milan.
It was a disappointing loss in the end but Bastian played a massive role in Bayern’s European push which saw them defeating Lyon in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League after besting the 2008 winners of the competition, Manchester
United in the quarter finals of the tournament.
Schweinsteiger who is currently 26 years old participated in the 2010 FIFA World Cup with Germany as well; during the tournament his prolific performances earned him praise from all sections of football media. Since then, a lot of
top European clubs have been keeping an eye on the German midfielder. However, recently Bastian came out in the media and told the Sunday Times, "I love the kind of speed of the English game but I don't know what will happen with me”. However, the German midfielder
was quick to point out the fact that he has a contract at Bayern Munich till 2012.
It will be interesting to see whether Bastian will sign a new deal at Bayern Munich in the present season or not. If he doesn’t sign a new deal then majority of European clubs will be interesting in his signature. Bastian added to
his comments to the Sunday Times newspaper as he said, “What I love is the atmosphere in English stadiums. When we played last year in Manchester it was fantastic. My brother is a big fan of Man U and he always says, 'Go to Man U, go to Man U.' I say, 'I can't,
I can't."
The German midfielder went onto exhibit his lighter side as he said, "Maybe they can swap me for Rooney." Schweinsteiger also praised the Chelsea approach by saying, "I watch the English games on TV and I like the Chelsea style at
the moment. They're very strong." The main reason behind Bastian’s possible move to England is seen his love and hate relationship with the German fans. He was quick to elaborate on that point as he said, "For me, in England the fans are better. When the team
gives their best, they are not booing. It's more like they are fans more with the heart."
