Breaking Football News: Defenders Fabio Grosso of Juventus and Joan Capdevila of Villarreal in for transfer swap
The latest from Turin is Juventus’ interest in acquiring the services of world Class Spanish left back Joan Capdevilla.
It is speculated that the Lady Killers are trying to create a swap deal for Villareal’s defender. It said that they are going to offer Fabio Grosso for the 32 year old Spanish international.
Capdevilla has played for Villareal since 2007. He came to Villareal from Deportivo La Coruna where he had 177 appearances and also scored 17 goals. Before that he played for Atletico Madrid and Espanyol gaining around 30 caps each. At Villareal he has 109 caps and has scored 13 goals.
The 32 year old Grosso also plays as a left back and has been with top notch teams in the past. He played for a year in 2006 with Inter Milan appearing in 23 matches and scoring 2 goals. From there on he went to play for Lyon for two seasons being part of 53 matches in which he scored twice.
He was bought by Juventus last year and has scored 2 goals for them in 26 matches. For Italy on the other hand he has acquired 48 caps and 4 goals.
Grosso was also part of the World Cup winning team of Italy in 2006 and Capdevilla was a part of the World Cup 2010 victors for Spain this year. They both have a similar style of play along with other striking similarities.
The Spanish and Italian players have stated that the change of clubs is welcoming and they hope they will adjust soon if the transfer is officiated.
Media reports have stated that Grosso’s agent, Giuseppe Bozzo, had travelled to the headquarters to Juventus football club to negotiate the terms of the transfer. This high profile transfer to La Liga will create a lot of uproar and will shift the tides all around.
Grosso has actually had a dismissive last season and that is what the Italian club feels is the drawback. Capdevilla on the other hand had a superb season and he also played in all the matches till the final for Spain.
