Breaking Football News: Everton confirm Chelsea bid for Steven Pienaar
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Pienaar-c34208’s bid from Premier League Champions Chelsea has been accepted from Everton, confirmed manager David Moyes.
The manager also confirmed that Tottenham’s offer for the 28-year-old has been rejected in favour of Chelsea. Earlier in the week, Moyes had confirmed that he had received bids from two European clubs for Pienaar and has accepted one but
didn’t disclose the name of the club.
Revealing Chelsea’s name as the player’s new club came after Everton managed an impressive 2-2 draw against local rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 at Anfield.
"We have accepted an offer from Chelsea. Steven has not agreed terms with Chelsea. We've given his representatives a chance to talk to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 but they've not got permission to talk to Tottenham because they've not offered the same money,"
claimed the Everton boss.
It is speculated that the Blues have offered Toffees 3 million pounds for the 28-year-old. Pienaar took no part in the match against Anfield today, as he showed reluctance in being part of the match. The manager explained that Pienaar
met him in person and explained he felt wrong to play in a match as such.
"I had a decision to make and I felt it would be better not to use him if that was the case,” stated the manager
Moyes however claimed that Pienaar is expected to train with the first team tomorrow. Also, it’s now up to Pienaar himself do decide which club he wants to go to. If Tottenham offer the right price, Everton would let the player decide
wherever he finds himself fit to go.
Pienaar arrived at Goodison Park for a 2 million pound fee three years ago and his impressive performances last season led him to be named Everton’s player of the season. The South African has refused to sign a new contract with Everton
this season, which led to Moyes putting him up for sale as this may be the only time where he can get some money out of the transfer. Otherwise, Pienaar would be out of a contract by the season end and Everton would risk losing him on a free transfer.
