Breaking Jaw to have Braces?

Well, I really want to get braces because my teeth are awful, but my mum said that if I did get them they'd have to break my jaw to get them in? I'm only 14 and my twin brother got his in like a month ago so why would they have to break mine and not my brothers?

Your jaws are probably built differently.

i've never heard of people breaking jaws in order to get braces, but i have heard of breaking jaws in order to fix extreme overbites or extreme underbites. just because you and your brother are twins doesn't mean that you have the same bite or even the same mouth structure. in order to really know what you need to do in order to get braces i would go to a professional and get an imprint and some x-rays.
