Breaking News: Alex Ferguson rules out January signings
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has refused to sign any players in the January transfer window.
United has come under heavy fire recently owing to their inability to sign top players following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez last year. The side has virtually no depth in the midfield area and heavily relies on
a few names to play the entire season. This led to the whole Wayne Rooney saga in recent weeks, where the English International refused to sign a new contract with the club owing to little signings.
Yet, the United boss has ruled out any signings this winter. United defeated Tottenham Hotspurs 2-0 in an impressive performance at Old Trafford and are currently 5 points behind leaders Chelsea. The United boss is currently happy with
the squad and claims there is no need to bring in extra player just for the heck of it.
"We won't be buying in January, definitely not. If you want someone to play in Europe, you are limited right away. There are hundreds of players cup-tied. You have five months left of the season, I will have Antonio Valencia back hopefully
towards the end of February, which is a new player coming back. If Michael Owen gets back, it is another new player coming back. So with the squad I've got, I don't see any reason for us to buy anyone," claimed the United boss.
Manchester United’s victory over Spurs was their 4th consecutive one in all competition and seems to be getting back to their brilliant self. The outfit has thrown away major points this season, where the side had
the lead but couldn’t hang on to it in the dying moments. United already has 5 draws to their name, more than what they had for the entire of last season. Yet, the side remain undefeated in all competition and have not tasted defeat in the third month of the
season. Ferguson would want the side to replicate the performance they managed last night against Spurs, where the side deserved nothing less than all three points. Club Captain Nemanja Vidic scored the opener in the 31st minute while
a bizarre goal from Nani in the 82nd minute wrapped things up for the Red Devils.
United now face Wolves at Old Trafford next week in the league and would want to keep their stride in order to stay firm in the race for the Premier League crown. It’s too early to say who would lift the premier league crown but Chelsea
seem to be the favourites owing to their unstoppable form in the league this season.
