Breaking News: Bastian Schweinsteiger fancies the Premier league
German star Bastian Schweinsteiger has expressed his desire to play for a Premier League club, should he decide to move from Bayern Munich.
The midfielder’s current contract with Munich goes on till 2012, but has been constantly speculated with a number of Premier League heavyweights, which includes Manchester United and Champions Chelsea.
Whichever club the player signs a contract with would be the last one for the 26 year old as the player has as many as 4 years of career left. Bastian therefore expressed his desire for the premier league game play and even joked a possible
swap deal between him and United star Wayne Rooney.
"I love the kind of speed of the English game but I don't know what will happen with me. I have a contract until 2012 and we'll see.
"What I love is the atmosphere in English stadiums. When we played last year in Manchester it was fantastic. My brother is a big fan of Man U and he always says, 'Go to Man U, go to Man U.' I say, 'I can't, I can't,” claimed the 26 year
old.
However, the 26 year old was also fond of the style of play of English Champions Chelsea stating that he had a look at their style on TV and was impressed by the approach. The midfielder revealed that the major reason for him to join England
would be the fan support and loyalty and was impressed by the amount of appreciation the fans have for their respective teams.
"For me, in England the fans are better. When the team give their best, they are not booing. It's more like they are fans more with the heart," claimed the German.
Schweinsteiger would fit perfectly in United’s current midfield, as the player would be a perfect replacement for 35 year old Paul Scholes. The Englishman cannot feature in every match and Sir Alex has been fond of the German for many
years.
The German had never expressed his desire to leave his boyhood club until now and can expect mega bids from many premier league clubs to hire his services. The player has made over 300 appearances for Munich in his career and has scored
37 times with 59 assists.
The player was equally impressive for Germany in this summer’s FIFA World Cup and was named in the dream team of the tournament. Adding Bastian to United would just be what the doctored ordered and would add the much needed depth and quality
in the midfield. The German is a perfect box to box player and is ruthless in his approach towards the game.
