Breaking News: Carlos Tevez to miss Wolves match
Manchester City skipper Carlos Tevez has been confirmed out of this weekend’s clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers owing to a thigh concern. The striker has been in the form of his life this season, having scored 7 goals from 8 premier
league starts. The former Manchester United striker has gained top form this season, which is largely because of him being awarded with Captain’s arm band this season. The player has transformed into a one man army since wearing the Captain’s arm band and
has scored 30 league goals in 40 appearances since last season.
However, the player seems too tired to continue and has twice expressed his desire to quit football soon if such a hectic schedule continues. The player suffered from a dead leg while playing against Arsenal last weekend and thus had to
be replaced by Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor in the second half. Manager Roberto Mancini expect the Argentine striker to be fit in time for the match against Molinuex, which is to be played next week. However that may be too much to ask from the 26 year
old and may not be able to feature in the November 10th derby match with his former club Manchester United.
Despite such reports, Manchester City refuse to consider his injury and fatigue too seriously and are due back in first team training by next week. The club has allowed Tevez to go to Argentina to spend some time with his family but is
expected to be back this Monday.
Tevez was part of a major transfer saga last season, when he chose not to sign a 25.5 million pound contract with the Red Devils and instead chose to move to cross-town rivals Manchester City. The major reason behind Tevez’s decision was
lack of first team opportunities at the team owing to the signing of Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov. With Cristiano Ronaldo, Berbatov and Wayne Rooney in the camp at United, Tevez saw limited opportunities and therefore refused a 5 year contract with the
premier league heavy weights.
Tevez has however stated time and time again of the hectic life of a premier league footballer and is on the brink of quitting football altogether. The player, who is only 26, still has at least 4-5 years of career left but believes he
has played too much of the game in too little time. That has led Tevez to question whether he would be able to keep performing at the top level throughout the remaining years and is afraid he might loose the charm of playing one day. Nevertheless, Tevez still
remains the club’s most important player, despite the millions spent by City this summer. City would therefore want the player to keep focus and perform at his level best in order to end their 33 and half year trophy drought.
