Breaking Football News: David Beckham eyes National team spot
Former Real Madrid and Manchester United midfielder David Beckham still eyes a spot in the national side and hopes to persuade Fabio Capello for a possible run-in. However, Beckham has ruled out a possible return to Europe on the off season of MLS, despite
spending two loan terms with AC Milan for the past two seasons.
The 35 year old midfielder has made over 110 appearances for the Three Lions and had to sit out of this summer’s FIFA World Cup in South Africa owing to an Achilles concern. The player was part of Capello’s 23 man squad, however was later ruled out because
of the injury. Despite that, the player still travelled to South Africa as a helping hand for the Three Lions squad.
Although the doors for the player’s return is not completely closed, English national team’s manager Fabio Capello believes Beckham is too aged to play and would like to give the new generation a shot at some International glory. However, that hasn’t stopped
Beckham from dreaming towards a possible return to the Three Lions squad and claims that if he is able to hit the right form and fitness, he would love nothing more but to represent his side.
The player appreciated the fairness of the Three Lions manager and claimed that Capello is a man of principle. If the manager believes the player has the right form and passion to represent the nation, he would select that player, no matter what his age
or talent.
"Everyone knows how passionate I have been about playing for my country over the years so, yeah, I would love to continue to play. Whether I do or not, that is obviously down to the manager and myself to perform. But, of course, I'd always love to play for
my country", claimed the former United midfielder.
The only reason for Beckham’s two loan spells at AC Milan was a desperate attempt to impress manager Fabio Capello. However, this unfortunately also became the major reason behind the player’s injury, owing to too much stress on his muscles. That led to
the player’s dreams of playing in his 4th World Cup being shattered in the March, when he fell down on the pitch. Upon further inspection, Beckham was diagnosed with an acute Achilles injury and needed at least 3-4 months of rehabilitation work.
"Right now, I'm enjoying playing for the Galaxy. I have enjoyed the four years that I've been here and I have a year left. Who knows what is going to happen after that but I'm definitely going to be here for the rest of my contract", claimed the right midfielder.
