Breaking News: EPL News - Liverpool
Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard has full faith in his boyhood club to pick up the pace and get themselves out of the relegation zone in the Premier League. The reason behind the statement is the increase in form of striker Fernando Torres,
who scored his second Premier League goal against Blackburn Rovers over the weekend. Gerrard was therefore delighted to see his team-mate and close friend Torres scoring his first goal in weeks. On the issue he has stated that his exuberance and hopefulness
that El Nino will make a comeback here onwards.
Since his arrival from Spain’s World Cup winning campaign in South Africa, Torres has come under heavy fire from media and critics over his under-par performances, but Gerrard backs the Spaniard to return to his full form.
Gerrard and Torres remain the club’s best players, despite 6 new players joining the Anfield outfit this summer. Gerrard remains the inspiration of the club and takes the burden of scoring goals and making chances upon himself whenever
the entire team fails to do anything. It was his partnership with Torres that helped Liverpool to come back in the derby match against Manchester United this season. Torres created a penalty and a free kick in the United match at Old Trafford, and Gerrard
scored on both occasions.
That been said, Gerrard knows importance of Torres for the club and would want him to get to his stride in order to get the Reds back to winning ways.
"It'll do wonders for Fernando's confidence," claimed the club captain.
Gerrard and Torres share a good bond between each other and have shared over 50 goals between each other since Torres’s arrival in 2007.
“All week in training he looked dangerous and lively running in the channels, and against Blackburn he was exactly the same. He had Blackburn tormented, he kept the ball really well, and this team is so different when Fernando is on form,”
claimed the 30 year old midfielder
Liverpool is in a lot of trouble this season owing to their poor start to the season under newly appointed Roy Hodgson and there were heavy reports regarding Torres going towards a possible exit.
“He's had a difficult summer with injuries and a difficult start to the season with a few niggles, but now he's starting to look fit and sharp and I'm sure the win and the goal will do him the world of good and hopefully he'll go from
strength to strength.  If we keep him fit and he's on form, we'll move up this table really fast," stated Gerrard in his defence for the 26 year old striker.
