Breaking News: EPL News: Sunderland
Sunderland: Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is expected to head into his first Tyne-Wear derby in with good mentality. The former Manchester United defender has become one of the most respected managers in the Premier League and has transformed Sunderland into
one of the top sides this season. Since his arrival at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland is going up in terms of team performance and the league table and having made a solid start to the new seasons.
The side is considered to be one of the top attacking sides, with Darren Bent, Asamoah Gyan and Danny Welbeck taking the front line. They therefore employ one of the best attacking trio in the country. Sunderland has transformed into a club with genuine
potential and all the signs present a positive result for them this season. They have managed draws against Arsenal and Manchester United and are undefeated in the Premier League for the past 7 fixtures. Their recent 1-0 win over Aston Villa proved their team
strength and quality and are currently 7th in the premier league.
However, for the manager himself has stated that it was his sheer planning, hard work in training and determination which has enabled the club to become one of the top in England.
"Going into the game, it was the first time we have been unbeaten in six in something like 10 years, so they can take a special pat on the back for that.”, claimed the Sunderland boss. However, the manager has not been able to achieve a single win over
his former club Manchester United and that stings him every day. The manager would love nothing more to have one up over his former boss but still respects his old club with the best of words. Bruce was part of the United squad which dominated the Premier
League from 1992-1996 and has won 3 Premier League titles and FA Cups in his career at Old Trafford.
Although Bruce may not have won a galore of titles in his managerial career; yet it is his planning and tactics that has transformed Sunderland into a respectable club. He believes that there is nowhere to go but up after this. And therefore that counts
for even more hard work.
“They have played very, very well without getting the results, but you keep ticking the points along and you see how tight it is.”, claimed the 49 year old.
Bruce however expects his team to keep playing on the top level in order to finish in top 10 of the Premier League. His next target would be to end up in the top 4 but would prefer to keep the targets realistic at least for this season. “Everybody else finds
it difficult too. We are creating enough chances, we are playing good football, we are a threat to teams, as we have proved. We have just got to convert a few", stated the Black Cats manager.
