Breaking News: EPL Round Up- Manchester United
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson hinted towards his possible successor at the club and claimed that it was his experience which came to good use in keeping English striker Wayne Rooney at the club. Owing to this, Ferguson
explained the club will never appoint a young and inexperienced manager when he retires and will go for one who has been on the top level for many years.
"I don't think Manchester United could ever go down the road of having a young manager, to be honest with you. It's a job that needs a lot of experience at the top end of the game. We have the benefit of my 24 years at the club,
so fortunately that's the way we could deal with it. At Manchester United, you can never be surprised.” claimed the longest serving manager in the Premier League.
Ferguson continued claiming that with United, there is always something happening owing to the size of the club and there will always be issues to be taken care of. The manager was happy with the way the entire management dealt
with all the negative publicity United got in the whole Wayne Rooney saga. However, he was happy that things went well in the end and it was because of being at the club for so long that he did not panic in such a situation.
“It's big enough dealing with winning matches without the publicity attached that doesn't always put football in a good light. We always try to always be a good part of the game, and all the right things about the game, but for
a couple of days last week, there was unfortunate information. To be manager of our club, you have to have someone strong who can deal with all these issues." claimed the United manager.
Ferguson breathed a sigh of relief when Wayne Rooney accepted the terms of his contract and vowed to stay at the club for the next 5 years. It is being speculated that Rooney might be earning something in between 200,000-250,000
pounds a week and become the highest paid footballer in England. Rooney’s importance for United was telecasted last season, where he scored 34 goals in 44 appearances. The player was a one man army for the club and decimated the most difficult of opposition
almost at will. The player was also voted as the best player of the season in the Premier League and is expected to get back to his best once he returns from his ankle lay off.
