Breaking News: EPL Roundup - Chelsea
Newly acquired midfielder Ramires has expressed the intense pressure he has to undergo since his arrival at Chelsea this summer. Chelsea, who are top of the table in the Premier League with 22 points, are unstoppable this season. The side
has managed to win all but two out of the 9 Premier League fixtures so far and are in top form this season.
Many expected Chelsea to fall prey to their own pride this season when they didn’t sign many players to replace the aging squad. Forwards Florent Malouda, Nicklas Anelka and Didier Drogba are on the wrong side of the 30 years age mark
but are in the form of their life this season. Even Frank Lampard is now 32 year old but is considered to be one of the greatest midfielders in the Premier League, which enables the club to keep relying on the experienced legs of these faithful.
However, Brazilian midfielder Ramires, who joined Chelsea this summer from Benifica, has surpassed all expectations since his arrival and has greatly impressed manager Carlo Ancelotti. Owing to the absence of midfielder Frank Lampard following
his hernia operation a month back, Ramires has become an integral part of Chelsea’s starting XI. However, the player admits he has to undergo a never-experienced-before pressure at Chelsea owing to the intensity of the Premier League and admits that the pressure
is of the next level than that of the Portuguese league.
"At Cruzeiro and Benfica, there was also huge pressure to get good results. The difference at Chelsea is that the level of visibility is so much greater. That means you're singled out more when you play badly and there's more hype when
you play well,” explained the 23 year old midfielder.
Ramires was a first team player for his national side in this Summer’s FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Former Brazil coach Dunga was extremely fond of having the 23 year old in his starting XI and combined extremely well with the likes
of Kaka, Elano and Robinho in the midfield. His defence splitting through ball against Korea DPR lead to the second goal of the game and is considered to be the future great of Brazil. Having made it into the Starting XI of Brazil at such a tender age points
towards a potential like none other and whosoever has played for the Selecao at this age has become one of the best in Europe.
Chelsea face Blackburn Rovers at Ewood park this weekend and it would be a highly physical challenge for the title holders. Blackburn is known for their man marking and would put their body on the line to stop the opposition from scoring.
That makes the Blues trip to Ewood park a tricky one and would want to come out victorious in order to maintain their 5 points lead over Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City.
