Breaking News - EPL Roundup: Manchester City
Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott feels the pain his team mates feel after going through a thrashing at the hands of Arsenal last weekend. The North London club managed 3-0 victory over the Blues and the entire City outfit shook
with disbelief of what had happened.
However, it was the sending off of youngster Dedryck Boyata in the 5th minute which led to the downfall of the World Richest club. Boyata was the last line of defence and caught Marouane Chamakh when he was one
on one with goal keeper Joe Hart.
Things would have been very different had City played the entire match with 11 men, as they managed a 4-2 victory last season in this fixture. Mancini also chose not to select former Arsenal striker Emmunael Adebayor to lead the front
line, despite his hatrick in the Europa league in midweek.
"It's hard against any team with ten men. The way Arsenal play, you'd like to have 12! But the boys played well all game and gave it 100 per cent, and there are still positives we can take from the game", claimed the defender.
City started off the match in a positive fashion and newly signed winger David Silva got close to scoring. Carlos Tevez cleverly played the Spaniard on the run who used his back heel to get a shot on goal.
However, goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski knew exactly what was about to happen and managed a good save. There is also a little unsettlement at the City camp, as striker Roque Santa Cruz has expressed his desire to part ways with the Premier
League club. The reason behind the decision is lack of first team opportunities and would want to spend the last few years in some other club.
Carlos Tevez has also been given a ticket home to Argentina following some unfavourable results from scans on his thigh. The player now remains a huge doubt for this season’s first Manchester Derby, which is to be played on November 10th.
That would be huge blow for the Eastlands, as Tevez remains the club’s most valuable asset. However, with the return of Mario Balotelli in the first team, Mancini would want to try out the 20 year old against a Rooney-less Manchester United.
Despite reports claiming that Wayne Rooney would be available for the Derby, it is highly unlikely that Sir Alex Ferguson would risk the player who has been sidelined for 3 weeks owing to an ankle concern.
