Breaking News: EPL Roundup - Sunderland
Sunderland midfielder Michael Turner is looking forward to featuring in his biggest local derby this Sunday, when the Black Cats faces the Magpies. The midfielder has taken part in many local derby with previous clubs but believes that
the match between Sunderland and Newcastle would be a one to enjoy.
Turner was part of the Brentford outfit that defeated local rivals Luton twice in 3 meetings, which includes their famous FA Cup match in the 04/05 season. Also, in the 2007 season, Turner played a huge part of winning both of Hull's derbies
against Scunthorpe.
"They are minor compared to this one, but even in those games you can sense a different kind of feeling in the game and the atmosphere around the place. Brentford v Luton and Hull v Scunthorpe - the battle of the Humber that was - again,
they were nothing really compared to this, but on their day it was quite feisty on and off the pitch,” stated the midfielder.
However, the player claimed that the derby match against Newcastle would be on the next level and would be an occasion to remember. Turner explained that its always a delight to see supporters from same region chanting for two different
teams and both teams play on the top level in order to prove their might.
It's a big game and one we are all looking forward to being involved in," stated Michael Turner.
Sunderland has drastically improved under manager Steve Bruce. The manager has worked hard with the club, which shows by the way players play the game. The players are happy with the manager and consider him their mentor owing to the hard
work put in by Bruce. Sunderland was never considered a threat for any of the top teams in the past but now a trip to the Stadium of Light is considered to be one of the most daunting experiences by many of the top teams.
Steve Bruce’s side is undefeated in the past 7 Premier League fixtures and have managed to draw against Arsenal and Manchester United at their home stadium. Bruce has developed a positive attitude in his players since his arrival and has
made some clever signings in order to improve the club’s situation.
This summer, Bruce signed FIFA Ballon d’Or Nominee Asamoah Gyan in club record transfer deal. Sunderland had to pay a daunting 13 million pounds for the services of the Ghanaian but the player has paid the faith of the manager. Gyan scored
in his debut match for the team and is a lively player on the pitch who has a bright future in the premier league.
