Breaking News-Football: Bebe to make debut for Manchester United
Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, has confirmed that the newly signed Portuguese winger Bebe would be making his Man Utd debut during the side’s Carling Cup tie against Scunthorpe United on Wednesday night.
The player’s shock 7.4 million move to Old Trafford this summer was one of the most surprising and bizarre moves, with the manager confessing that he had never seen Bebe play. The 20-year-old forward was recommended to Fergi by former Portuguese coach, Carlos
Queiroz, who enjoys good relationship with Ferguson owing to his time as assistant coach at the Red Devils. After his signing with the most famous club on the planet, a sharp rise has been seen in Bebe’s career and he is now poised to make his first start
for the defending Carling Cup champions.
Ferguson has already confirmed that he looks to give the younger place a chance to shine in the Carling Cup as the side looks to make it a hat-trick in the competition.
"We played a lot of young players last season and they all acquitted themselves well. We'll do the same at Scunthorpe. A lot of my young players will play. Bebe is training very well. He'll be involved tomorrow night. Federico Macheda will as well.  The
Carling Cup has served us well over the last few seasons - it allows me to keep everybody happy in terms of giving people games and we've reached the last two finals, which has its obvious advantages. Playing at Wembley and competing for medals on the big
stage is terrific for players' development”, pointed the 69 year old Scotsman.
Meanwhile, Bebe seemed delighted on getting the chance to finally play for the club. He hoped to make a good impact on the team following his good run-in with the reserves’ side last week. Bebe, who may well be starting on the bench, stated that he expected
to be a brilliant player for Manchester Untied and the manager was happy with him who wanted him to step up his training in order to breakthrough into the first team.
Manchester United managed to thrash arch Rivals, Liverpool 3-2 over the weekend, thanks to a brilliant hat-trick by Dimitar Berbatov. But, the team would be without his services in the Carling Cup as the player will be given rest for a tough week ahead.
United would be on the road for two fixtures back to back- first to Bolton in the Premier league and then a long trip to Spain to face Valencia in the UEFA Champions League. Services of the in-form striker and other first team members would be needed there
while the youngsters also would be required to step up and defend their club’s two year title defense.
