Breaking News: Henry says unhappy players can leave as Torres admits he is fighting hard to regain top form
Liverpool’s new owner John W, Henry has come out said that the unhappy players at the club will be allowed to leave as the Reds do not want to keep anyone against their will. Henry told this to the U.S media after speculation surfaced about Fernando Torres,
Pepe Reina and Dirk Kuyt’s future in the past week. Liverpool won their latest match in the English Premier League against Chelsea by two goals to nil, in quite an exciting encounter at the Anfield stadium i.e. Liverpool’s home ground.
John. W. Henry told the press, "It is a completely different system here to what we are used to. If a player has a contract in the United States they fulfil the contract. Over here, it seems players have much more say-so about where they are. Frankly, we
don't want a player at the club who doesn't want to be at the club. It's really up to us to provide the kind of leadership, on and off the field, that any player at the club or who is coming to the club wants to be here."
Commenting on the rumours that circled the air at Anfield about the future of Reina, Torres and Kuyt, the American businessman said, "I was upset about the assertion that they were leaving. There was one day when I read reports that we were not going to
be involved in the transfer window because we do not have the funds. The next day I read that Torres and Reina were leaving. I have spoken with a number of our top players and was really heartened by the response. I was heartened by the intelligence of these
players, who understand more about Liverpool than we do. They were good discussions."
On the other hand, Liverpool’s star striker Fernando Torres spoke to the media after his team’s win over Chelsea as he said, “Every day I am feeling better and improving every day. It has been difficult. It was a tough end of [last] season for me, and so
was the World Cup, with lots of injuries. I do not know if I can play my best soon, but I hope I will. Being criticized is part of life as a footballer. At a team like Liverpool, everyone watches every game and everything you do is around the world a minute
later. I know the expectation and I want to fight hard to get my top form.”
