Breaking News - Luka Modric desperate enough for a Chelsea move to pull a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/William-Gallas-c36874
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 is desperate for a move to London rivals, Chelsea. Desperate enough to threaten Spurs manager Harry Redknapp with an own goal.
One of the few times something like this was witnessed in the Premier League was when defender William Gallas wanted to leave Chelsea for rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429.
When he felt there was a possibility of the deal not going through, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international threatened to score an own goal.
Shortly afterwards he transferred to the Emirates Stadium in the summer of 2006 in an exchange deal for left-back http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Cole-c6809.
Modric seems to have learnt a thing or two during his time in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749, including threatening his employers when they refuse to give in to his demands.
After http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786’s £22 million bid for Modric was rejected by Redknapp, the player broke his silence and declared his wish for a move to Stamford Bridge.
Modric said while speaking to reporters:
“I would like to go to Chelsea. A lot of players would like to go there and play for Chelsea because it is one of the best clubs in the world…”
The 25-year-old Croatian played it nice, claiming he did not want to hand in a transfer request due to his respect for the club and the supporters.
However, Redknapp, who values his player highly, sometimes too highly for their own good, claimed the £22 million was ridiculous and that he would not consider selling the player.
The Tottenham chairman released a statement, which cemented Redknapp’s claim that Modric was not for sale during the summer transfer window.
The Spurs chairman said:
“In respect of Luka Modric, we are not prepared to sell, at any price, to Chelsea Football Club or any other club.”
The player is reportedly infuriated with the recent statement and has issued a warning to the management at White Hart Lane.
The Spurs will be hosting Everton in the first fixture of the 2011-2012 English Premier League, which will begin on 13th August.
It is then that Modric plans to strike with his own goal if he is not allowed to complete his dream move to Stamford Bridge.
Modric warned:
“I will score an own goal during the match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 if I am forced to remain at Tottenham Hotspur.”
