Breaking News: Manchester City say no talks between them and Rooney till now
Manchester City have added another twist to the saga of Wayne Rooney’s transfer talk from Manchester United, as their manager came out and gave a statement of his own regarding the English national team striker. It was revealed yesterday in an interview
that Sir Alex Ferguson gave to Manchester United TV that Wayne Rooney had asked the club on 14th of August, 2010 to stall his contract negotiations because he was seeking a move away from the club. The man himself confirmed this on 16th
of August, 2010 when he met Sir Alex Ferguson.
In the midst of this surprising news, rumours have emerged that have connected Rooney to Manchester City. It is speculated that in the January transfer window Rooney will be bought by Manchester City as only they possess the required financial power to convince
Manchester United to part ways with their striker. As Rooney is already adamant on moving away from Old Trafford, City is thought to be a possible destination as the club is on the rise and many fellow English national team players also feature for the Blues.
However in another surprising move, Roberto Mancini the Manchester City manager has recently come out and said that Manchester City have never had any connection or contact with the Manchester United striker in the past. It was thought before this statement
that City had an understanding with Rooney whose main bone of contention at United seems to be the Red Devil’s inability to meet his wage demands.
According to some reports it is told that City are willing to offer as much as 250,000 pounds in weekly wages to Rooney. A sum that will make him one of the highest earning footballers in the world at the moment. Roberto Mancini told the press in response
to a question that his club has “never” had any contact with Wayne Rooney. The former Italian manager did not give any more details regarding his club’s interest in the former Everton man.
It remains to be seen as to how Wayne Rooney himself will react to this news as Manchester United’s manager has publically declared Rooney’s intent to leave United sooner rather than later. Manchester United and Manchester City have a fierce rivalry and
City consider themselves as a rising power in English football, a deal such as the one in question will surely propel them to genuine title contenders as a player of Rooney’s quality will have a great impact on City’s ever improving squad of players.
