Breaking News: Manchester City’s manager happy with the Boxing Day result
Manchester City’s manager, Roberto Mancini has come out and celebrated his team’s Boxing Day win over Newcastle United in the media. The 26th of December, 2010 also marked Mancini’s first anniversary as City’s manager,
a fact that was also highlighted by the manager in his latest interview. Manchester City won their latest league encounter against Newcastle United; the Blues did it in an emphatic manner as they took a two goal lead within the first five minutes of the match
at the Saint James’s Park.
It was a superb start by Mancini’s men who had to hold off a resurgent Newcastle side for the rest of the match to secure all three points in the end. Alan Padrew’s team tried to come back into the match as Andy Carroll netted
a hopeful goal for the Magpies but in the end it wasn’t enough as City won by three goals to one at Newcastle’s home stadium. With their latest win, Manchester City climbed to the second place in the English league table as they have now gathered 35 points
from 19 games. However, they still remain behind Manchester United who top the league table with 37 points from 17 league games.
Roberto Mancini said in his interview after the match, "I like Boxing Day. Last year, we won; this year, we won. I am happy with this first year, but it is my opinion that we need to improve again, we need to work. Only if we do
that can we arrive at the top and win something at the end of the season."
Answering a reporter’s question about how his tenure at City has been thus far as a manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 elaborated by stating, "Fantastic because the Barclays Premier League is the best league at this moment in Europe and for me,
it is an incredible experience."
Carlos Tevez netted two goals for City in the match and Mancini declared his happiness on Tevez’s goal scoring exploits as he said, "I am happy because Carlos scored two goals and I am happy for all the players because they played
very well. They (Newcastle United) defended very well - it was difficult because they played the long ball for Carroll and we fought for every ball against him because Carroll is a good player."
Manchester City will be hoping that tomorrow’s clash between http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and Arsenal ends in a draw as that would be the best result for Mancini’s squad who will be looking to retain their newly captured second place spot.
