Breaking News: Napoli’s Walter Mazzarri believes Guardiola has copied “his three-man defence”
The Napoli coach, Walter Mazzarri is of the opinion that Barcelona’s Josep Guardiola has tried copying his three man defence at the Nou Camp.
Napoli have been playing brilliant football for a few seasons now – all thanks to Walter Mazzarri.
Mazzarri has done a lot to help the Italian side become one of the best in the Italian Serie A. Napoli are currently considered to be one of the favourite teams to win the Italian league.
When Mazzarri took charge at the Italian club, he introduced a new way to defend – a three-man defensive set up. Rather than having two centre backs and two full backs, the team defends with three centre backs who assist the goalkeeper in defending the goal.

forward as the team organized itself in a 3-4-3 or a 3-5-2 formation.
The five or four-man midfield gave Barcelona the chance to keep the ball to themselves and dominate at the centre of the pitch.
Mazzarri said that he has nothing but respect for Josep Guardiola and he often studies the way he plays his team. The Napoli gaffer said:
"Do I feel like the Italian Guardiola? I watch and study his football, but I think that he has also looked at ours, as he has tried to defend with three [at the back]."
He told the press that he respects the Catalan coach who brings a lot of new ideas on the field. He said:
"There is a mutual respect between us, as I complimented the way he manages to implement so many different ideas on his team's play."

He said that this season they are the team to beat in the Italian Serie A and he is going
to try his best to win the Champions League.
He was quoted saying:
"The first matches of [this season's] Champions League have sent out a message that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 are competitive and, therefore, we will give this competition priority over the league. My ambition has always been to never limit myself."
Napoli recently won a tough game against Udinese and they are now fourth in their league.
