Breaking News: Newcastle United appoint Pardew as their new manager
Alan Padrew, the-ex West Ham United manager has been appointed as Newcastle United’s manager. In latest news which came out on Newcastle United’s website, the englishman has signed a five year deal with the Tyneside club. Padrew takes over from Newcastle’s
previous manager, Chris Hughton.
Hughton was dismissed by Newcastle’s owner, Mike Ashely. Mike has been criticized by Newcastle’s United’s loyal fanbase. The owner who is a big Newcastle United fan himself but his treatment of the club has been touted as a big reason as the Magpies fall
from grace.
Last year Newcastle United participated in the Championship and finished as the table toppers of the lower division. In doing so, they secured a place in the 2010-2011 English Premier League. In 2008-2009 season in the English Premier League, Newcastle United
were relegated from the Premier League after they finished in the bottom three teams of the English league.
Back then, Hughton took charge of the team and guided them right back into the Premier League. There was a lot of discontent voiced at the Saint James’s Park stadium after Hughton got sacked but Padrew’s appointment will go a long way in reparing Mike Ashely’s
frayed relations with the club’s fans.
Newcastle United’s new manager Alan Padrew said in a statement on Newcastle’s website, "I am honoured and privileged to have been given this opportunity at Newcastle United, one of the truly great clubs in English football.I understand what this club means
to its supporters. Throughout the football world people recognise that this is a unique club in many ways, with supporters who are second to none in their loyalty, passion and devotion for the team.”
He added, "I'm not a Geordie, of course, but I'm a football person with a love of the game and I can assure you I bring great drive, desire and commitment to the job." Padrew previously occupied management posts at Reading, Chalrton and Southampton. He also
played for the Republic of Ireland during his hay day as a footballer.
Alan added, "Chris Hughton did a great job last season, guiding the club back to the Premier League, and he continued that good work this season. It is my aim to build on that now and take this club forward. I have always managed teams that have played attacking
positive football, something I know the supporters here appreciate.”
Spekaing about his plans for Newcastle, he stated, "At the same time, I intend to focus on developing exciting young players through the club's excellent Academy and development squad, and I know the board here at St James' Park are very committed to that
too. I can't wait to get started, and what better way to kick-off than welcoming Liverpool to St James' Park on Saturday?"
Alan Padrew’s club now rests at the 12th place spot in the English Premier League table as Newcastle United have just taken two points from the last fifteen possible. In their next league match, Newcastle take on Liverpool at the Saint James Park.
